Location
Wilhelm-Caspar-Wegely-Platz is a very central but quiet side street between the river Spree and the Landwehr Canal, near Zoologischer Garten: the city centre of the former West Berlin.
Tiergarten, the city's biggest and most central park, is within walking distance. Characteristic of this park are wide lawns crossed by streams and covered with groups of trees, lakes with small islands and numerous bridges and avenues.
The Technical University and a kindergarten are at walking distance. The Trödelmarkt flea market, an interesting open-air art and craft market, takes place every Saturday and Sunday in the immediate vicinity.
Nearby is Europe's largest gas lantern open-air museum: this romantic part of the Tiergarten is freely accessible at all times.
The Tiergarten metro station (lines S3, S5, S7, S9), with direct connection to the central rail station (Hauptbahnhof) and the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, is only a 5-minute walk away.
